Win Computers for Your School and College Scholarships by Entering Your Students in a Doodle 4 Google Design Competition

Are you a K-12 educator? Want to get your students involved in a fun and inspiring project? Tell them about Doodle 4 Google, a competition where students design a Google logo around the theme, "If I Could Do Anything, I Would....". The winning student's school gets a $25,000 grant towards the establishment/improvement of a computer lab, and he or she wins a $15,000 college scholarship, a laptop computer, a Wacom digital design tablet, and the chance to have his or her design on the Google.com homepage for a day for millions of people to see. The winner, along with three national finalists and 40 regional finalists, also wins a trip to New York City for an event on May 26, 2010 and a t-shirt printed with their doodle on it.

As an additional incentive this year, Google and its partner, the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, is giving out eight "Extra Credit: Technology Booster Awards” that consist of netbook computers to schools who submit the maximum number of doodles by March 10 and have a student who is one of the 400 State Finalists.

Students' doodles will be judged on artistic merit, creativity, representation of the theme, and other criteria by "Expert Jurors" who are well-known illustrators, cartoonists, and animators from organizations including The Sesame Street Workshop, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and Pixar Animation Studios. A public exhibit of the 39 regional finalists and the national winner will be open to the public at the Smithsonian's, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum from May 27 to July 8, 2010

Check out www.google.com/doodle4google for official rules and details. Teachers must register their school by March 17, 2010, and all entries are due by March 31, 2010.
